Meet the Captain

Greg Koehler — Founder of For the Brave Coffee | Captain Paramedic | Firehouse Brew Advocate

Greg Koehler is a 22-year veteran of the North Las Vegas Fire Department and currently serves as a Captain Paramedic. At 49, with thousands of emergency calls and just as many cups of terrible coffee behind him, he decided enough was enough.

After years of drinking what could only be described as engine sludge or weak, lifeless brews, Greg partnered with Temecula Coffee Roasters to bring high-quality, specialty-grade coffee into the firehouse and beyond.

“Am I a coffee connoisseur? Absolutely not. But I know exactly what bad coffee tastes like.”

What began as a caffeine-fueled fix turned into a purpose-driven mission. Greg launched For the Brave Coffee not just to roast better beans, but to give back to the fire service.
A portion of every pound sold is donated to help local fire departments acquire critical firefighting and life-saving EMS equipment.

Greg’s dedication to service doesn’t stop at the fireline. He has spent years supporting the Burn Foundation of Southern Nevada and other charities, and now, through For the Brave Coffee, he continues to give back to the career that has given him everything—the good, the bad, and the deeply brewed.

☕ Favorite roast: Anything bold enough to keep up with the squad.
